Graves

At a burial, and after the service in the auditorium, the deceased is borne to the grave on the shoulders of bearers followed by the funeral procession. We can provide professional bearers, but you might prefer to ask family members and/or friends. It is important to inform us of your wishes relating to the burial. The possibilities are innumerable: a word of thanks can be given at the graveside, or a cleric can pronounce the last blessing. You could opt for certain burial rites (holy water, handful of earth, scattered flowers, etc.) during and/or after the coffin has been lowered. If required, we can supply chairs, wheelchairs, etc. Generally, the grave is covered with greenery.

Westerveld issues special burial rights. A burial right allows you individual rights to a burial plot in which up to three deceased can be buried.

Unlimited term
In contrast to many other cemeteries, Westerveld enables you to purchase burial rights for an unlimited term while you are still alive. You may then choose the plot at Westerveld in which you wish to be buried.

Rented plots
De begraafplaatsBurial plots with limited term burial rights – so-called rented plots – also allow you in most cases to choose the location of your plot. Rental terms are variable and an extension is always possible.

Tombs
Another unique feature is the option of constructing a surface tomb (mausoleum). Westerveld has several, though most tombs are constructed underground.
